This article gives you an overview of the different search possibilities, straight and advanced

In Limecraft Flow, you can use the search engine on two levels. Either you can search for material fragments on a global level, i.e. across all the productions you have access to, or you can use the search engine after accessing a specific repository or production.

In either case, the built in search engine is extremely powerful and will ensure you’ll retrieve the right material fragments as fast as possible.

1. Federated Search - searching across different productions

In case you have access to material in different collections or productions, you can use the search bar on top of the production overview, where you can indicate as well if you're searching for a particular production ("Productions") of for media content ("Clips").

All the filters that you can use in the production library search are also available here. There is one exception with regards to the filter on custom fields. Those are not available, execpt for those custom fields that are defined on a production template in the account settings.

2. Searching in a Library or Production

2.1 Searching for media using the standard filters

Initially, the library shows all clips in your library in a particular sort order you decide. Using the 'Add filter" button at the top of the library, you can filter the library on many internal fields or custom fields and reduce the displayed items to those that match the search arguments.

For example, let’s add a filter to the ‘Tags’ field. Click the 'Add filter' button and scroll through the list or simply type 'Tags'.

Once you have selected the Tags filter, a new pop-up will allow you to select the tags you would like to filter on.

In the same way as before, you can either type out the tag you're looking for or scroll through the list and select tags. In the image below, you'll see that we are filtering on the tags 'stars' and 'sky'.

If you want to filter on multiple fields, you only need to click the ‘Add filter’ button again and select a new filter. Below you can see that we filtered both on the tags 'stars' and 'sky' as well as the ingest status 'done'

Another exciting feature is the option to search for material that does not have certain properties. Each filter has two buttons at the top to toggle between 'include' and 'exclude' the selected values. In the example below, we search for clips that do NOT have the media type 'Image'.

The 'exclude' is indicated by an orange minus sign at the front of the filter:

There are many different types of filters that you can use. Below is a list of all the possibilities.

FilterDescription

  • Clip Metadata will only match clips

  • Subclips will only match subclips

This filter is very handy if besides finding clips, it is also important to find the time position within the clips where the query matches!

2.2 Searching for media using the advanced filters

It is possible to add advanced filters for situations where the query is so complex it can't be entered via the user interface. At the bottom of the 'Add filter' menu, you will find the 'Advanced filter' option.

To make it easy, most of the filters also have a 'convert to advanced query' option once you select the filter value. This gives you a starting point when you need to write an advanced query.

3. Subclip results

The search is capable of searching within your clips. For example, say someone created comments on a video, and one of the comments says 'Maarten is talking to Robert in the foreground’. When searching for talking, the clip with this subclip will be one of the results. Hovering the clip will furthermore give an indication where in the clip this comment appears using a small dot. Hovering the dot will show a tooltip with details of the comment.

4. Browsing collections, story parts and scenes

The white sidebar lists all collections, story parts and scenes in your production. Clicking a collection will add a filter so only the material in that collection is shown. The same holds for story parts and scenes. If you selected a quick filter first, it will be left active.

5. Saving your search results as a "Quick View"

Eventually, whenever you are satisfied with a combination of search filters and arguments, you can save the search query using "Quick Views" on top of the navigation on the left hand side. It will make your search query available as a shortcut for future use.

If you have a quick view activated when you open a collection, you will notice that that collection is being filtered according to the quick view.
