Add watermarks to video with Limecraft for branding, security or information sharing purposes by using Limecraft Edge media encoding.
Watermarks can be your digital signature, making your brand recognizable for viewers. They can be used for adding information for the viewer or important metadata for internal use. The use of watermarks ensures that no one else can claim the ownership for your content.
For adding watermarks, you need production administrator or Admin level permissions. Via the transcode settings you can add logos, text or jpeg images to your videos. Your watermark is added to the video while transcoded via Limecraft Edge. They are burned in which means that at the end you have a new video with the watermark image or text overlaid on the video.
How to add watermarks with Limecraft Edge media encoding
In Flow, navigate to Production settings, media encoding and transcode profiles.
You can click on one of the existing Transcode Profiles to add and edit watermarks.
Another option is to create a new transcode profile with a watermark by clicking on 'Add profile' and completing all the steps.
Click on the three dots next to the Transcode profile that you want to edit.
You are presented with the option to edit, clone or delete a profile.
A window opens with different editing options including adding a watermark.
You can add text or timecode, or an image such as a logo.
Fill in the dialogue and press 'Add watermark' to continue.
Note: You can burn in the timecode by ticking the checkbox 'Append timecode to text'. This will ensure that each frame gets the timecode of that frame burned in. This is useful for internal communication where it can be essential to avoid any confusion about which specific video frame is being discussed.
The image formats for watermarks used by Limecraft are:
jpeg2000 (to work with alpha channel),
jpeg
png (only available on Mac, not Windows)
