Intralingual subtitling refers to the creation of subtitles in the same language as the spoken audio. This type of subtitling is commonly used to improve accessibility, support viewers who are deaf or hard of hearing, and enhance comprehension in environments where audio cannot be played. Unlike translation workflows, intralingual subtitling focuses on accurate transcription, timing, and readability rather than language conversion.
In Limecraft, intralingual subtitling can be created either by manual subtitling, by aligning an existing transcript or by generating subtitles from an AI-based transcription or AI-Assisted Subtitling. When starting from a transcript, timing information is automatically applied to convert the text into subtitles. When using AI transcription, the transcript can be reviewed and corrected before generating subtitles, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accessibility best practices. In both cases, subtitles remain fully editable in the Subtitle Editor for quality control and refinement.
