What is SAML authentication? ‍

SAML is the acronym for Security Assertion Markup Language. It is a method of identity verification based on Single Sign-On (SSO), which means in this case that, to login into Limecraft, your identity is verified by a third party system, usually a company wide Identity and Access Control system.

How Does SAML Authentication Work?

For the end users, it means that they only need to log in once centrally to identify themselves, and that upon successful verification they can use Limecraft and any other applications as appropriate. This saves the time and effort to provide access credentials each time they login, the need to manage a different password for each application. So ultimately it significantly improves user convenience and overall security at the same time.

How to Activate SAML?

Single Sign On (SSO) using SAML must be activated and tested by Limecraft engineers before it can be used. If you are interested to know more, please reach out using [email protected].

Login to Limecraft using a Central Identity Provider

Logged in via the Central Identity Provider

Assuming a user is already authenticated and authorised by the central identity provider, the login process is extremely simple. As a user, the only thing you need to do, is fill in your email address and you will automatically get access to your Limecraft Account(s).

Not yet Logged in via the Central Identity Provider

If a user is not logged in via the central identity provider yet, then the login process includes a roundtrip via the central identity provider for authentication and authorisation.
