As part of our continued efforts to improve the usability of Artificial Intelligence for professional use, as of the 2025.2 release, we introduced the concept of 'Summarisation'.

Summarisation extends transcription. It uses a Large Language Model (LLM) to process the transcript in the background. As a result, it creates a synopsis of clip as a whole, as well as a title, a short description, and a number of topics for each chapter or sub-clip.

‼️ Please note that Summarisation is currently available as a private beta feature and must be switched on by Limecraft support staff. If you are interested, please contact us. If enabled, Summarisation is included as part of our premium transcription service at no extra cost.

Starting Summarisation

If enabled, summarisation is accessible as an extension of the transcription application as shown below.

Upon start of a summarisation job, Limecraft displays a dialogue box which lets you choose from options to control the summarisation process.

The options include the following:

  • Transcript language: by default Limecraft indicates the original dominant language of the audio used to create an initial transcript
  • Output summary language: refers to the language of the output of the clip-level and sub-clip summaries. By default it uses the same language as the original language. Use this option to create a summary in your preferred language.
  • Summary Detail Level: a relative indication of the number of words used for the clip-level summary.
  • Topics Quantity: a relative indication of the number of topics identified on the level of the clip.
  • Chapters Quantity: a relative indication of the granularity of the sub-clips to be identified
  • Summary Detail Level of Each Chapter: a relative indication of the level of depth for each chapter.
  • Chapter Topics Quantity: a relative indication of the number of topics for each chapter

Effect of Summarisation

Upon successful execution of the summarisation process. a description and topics are added to the item, as well as to the individual fragments identified as sub-clips.

Clip-Level Data

As a result of the summarisation process, Limecraft will add a summary and a number of topics on the global level of the item in the Clip Metadata tab of the Clip Info

Important Note: Limecraft does not keep versions of summaries or topics. Consequently, each time you start a summarisation process, these data will be overwritten.

Sub-clips or Chapters

Besides the clip-level metadata added as described above, Limecraft adds a number of chapters as sub-clips. Chapters are accessible via the logger application. They are represented as sub-clips of a specific type and present  a title, summary and topics for each sub-clip.
