When a (new) license was received for using Limecraft Edge and this license key is being applied for the first time, Limecraft Edge will need to be able to verify the validity of the license and thus requires proper Internet connectivity to do so.

In some specific cases this Internet connectivity seemed to be appropriately in place (other resources on the Internet such as https://platform.limecraft.com/ could be reached without any issues), yet the Edge license registration kept failing returning the following error:

When Limecraft Edge is put to use in more distant locations (from Europe), the license registration process can take more time than the default timeout set for this operation. When the timeout is triggered Limecraft Edge will put itself in offline mode, which in turn will not allow the license registration to complete and yield above error.

This timeout can be adjusted through setting the system variable FLOW_PING_TIMEOUT to a higher value, such as 30000 (=30 seconds). Doing so will allow the license registration to complete successfully.

Learn the easy steps how to do it in this short video tutorial about Setting Internet Variables in Windows.

Once the license has been registered, Limecraft Edge does not require Internet access to confirm its validity. Even in offline mode the applied license key will remain valid.
